Inside Jobs’ brain: Author talks about “crazy secretive” CEO (video)

Steve Jobs is a notoriously private figure, but you can learn more about him in Leander Kahney’s book Inside Steve’s Brain. Kahney, currently the editor and publisher of Cult of Mac, stopped by VentureBeat to chat about the hurdles encountered while writing about Jobs. Kahney also talks about Jobs’ recent resignation.

Kahney approached over 100 people in the course of writing the unofficial biography, looking for sources who would tell him about the company, and no one would speak on the record — even former Apple employees.

“It was like getting blood out of a stone,” says Kahney. Inside Steve’s Brain required Kahney to fry his own in an effort to write thoroughly and?accurately?about a living legend.

In the interview we talk about reasons why Jobs is stepping down as well as his greatest accomplishments.

Spoiler Alert: “The greatest product that he ever made is Apple itself,” says Kahney.

Twitter agrees to meet with UK government about recent riots

Microblogging company Twitter will meet with UK officials to discuss the role its service played in the recent riots experienced in London and other parts of the country, reports The Next Web.

Over 3,000 offenses — totaling more than $150,000 in damages — were committed during the riots in early August, according to the latest figures from the Metropolitan Police Service. Twitter, Facebook and Research In Motion’s BlackBerry Messenger have been cited by several government officials as exacerbating the behaviors of those who participated in the riots.

The news comes after British Prime Minister David Cameron suggested cutting off access to social media because the “free flow of information” can be problematic.

Twitter will send a representative to the meeting scheduled for August 25. Both Facebook and RIM will also send representatives to the meeting in regards to their effects on the riots.
